Five Prince George's Baseball Players Honored By NJCAA Region XX

LARGO, Md. – Five Prince George's Community College baseball players have been selected to the National Junior College Athletic Association All-Region XX Division III teams announced on Wednesday. Sophomores Brandon Crosby (Richmond, Va./Atlee, Mechanicsville) and Bay To (Philadelphia, Pa./Newmann-Goretti) and freshmen Josh Pietrandrea (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge) and Vinny Rotundo (New York, N.Y./Middletown) have been selected to the All-Region XX Division III first team while sophomore Austin Adams (Atlanta, Ga./Whitewater) has been named an All-Region XX Division III honorable mention

Crosby, a second baseman/outfielder, earns his second-straight All-Region XX Division III first team selection after earning the honor as a freshman in 2017. The sophomore, who also earned First Team NJCAA All-American status and All-Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) first-team honors last year, leads the team in stolen bases (15) and ranks third in homeruns (6), fifth in hits (35), fifth in runs (28), fifth in RBIs (25) and fifth in batting average (.365). He recorded 12 multi-hit performances this season including a pair of three-hit games. Crosby also had six multiple RBI games including a grand slam that led to five RBIs against CCBC Dundalk.

For his career, Crosby is hitting .414 with 116 hits, 99 runs scored, 22 doubles, three triples, 10 homers, 74 RBIs and 60 stolen bases.

Pietrandrea, a first basemen, nabs his second honor of the year after being named a Maryland JUCO honorable mention on Tuesday. He leads the team in batting average (.407), RBIs (38) while ranking second in home runs (7), hits (46), runs (37), third in triples and fourth in doubles (7). Pietrandrea posted 13 multi-hit contests this season including five games with at least three hits. He recorded nine multi-RBI games including four three RBIs in a game three times. In his first collegiate game, Pietrandrea went 3-for-3 with three runs scored, two home runs and three RBIs. During the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XX Division III Baseball Championships, the freshman went 8-for-17 with seven runs scored, two homers and eight RBIs while he either knocked in or scored the go-ahead run in three out of the four games to earn a spot on the All-Tournament team.

Rotundo, a catcher, paces the team with 11 doubles while ranking second in batting average (.378), third in RBIs (26), sixth in hits (31) and sixth in runs (23). The freshman posted 11 multi-hit games including three games with at least three hits. He notched eight multiple RBI contests including a four RBI performance. In both games against CCBC Dundalk this season, Rotundo went 6-for-10 with five runs scored, seven RBIs and four doubles.

To, an outfielder, received his second-straight all-region first-team selection after garnering the honor last season for the Owls. The sophomore, who was also named an All-Maryland JUCO honorable mention, fueled the team in home runs (8) and triples (3) while ranking second in RBIs (31), third in stolen bases (13), fourth in hits (41), fourth in runs and sixth in batting average (.360). The sophomore recorded 12 multi-hit performances including five three-hit games. To knocked in multiple runs six times this season including registering four RBIs on three occasions. In a 15-8 win against Anne Arundel Community College, To went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, two home runs and four RBIs and then six days later had a 3-for-4 game with four runs scored, a homer and four RBIs.

For his career, To has a .398 batting average with 111 hits, 89 runs, 26 doubles, seven triples, 17 homers, 81 RBIs and 37 stolen bases in 82 career games. The sophomore plans to transfer to Post University to continue his education next year.

Adams, an outfielder, nabs his first all-region recognition after leading the team in runs (44) and triples (4) while ranking second on the team in doubles (10), second in stolen bases (14), third in hits (43), third in RBIs (26) and boasting a .331 batting average. Adams has recorded 13 multi-hit games this season including posting a multi-hit performance in each of his last five games. He has posted multiple RBIs in eight games this season. In a contest against Howard University Club, Adams went 4-for-6 with five runs scored, two doubles and four RBIs and then along with catching the final out posted a  3-for-6 performance with two runs scored, two doubles and two RBIs in the NJCAA Region XX Division III Baseball Championship Game on Sunday.

Adams is batting .327 with 67 hits, 59n runs scored, 12 doubles, six triples, two homers, 44 RBIs and 21 stolen bases.

Prince George's, who has won the NJCAA Region XX Division III Baseball Championship in back-to-back seasons, returns to action on Friday against Rockingham County Community College in the NJCAA Division III District D Championships in North Carolina. The winner of the best-of-three series advances to the NJCAA Division III World Series.
