Bradley's 12 Ks Help Prince George's Baseball To Doubleheader Split With CCAC Boyce

LARGO, Md. – Keaton Bradley (Bahama, N.C./Northern Durham) struck out 12 batters and won a 2-1 pitcher's duel against CCAC Boyce in National Junior College Athletic Association Region XX Division III baseball action on Sunday. CCAC Boyce earned a 2-1 win in the nightcap.

Bradley allowed one run on six hits in a seven-inning complete game with 12 strikeouts to earn his second win of the season. After striking out eight of the first nine batters, Bradley allowed a run in the fourth to cut the Owls (4-2) lead to 2-1. The freshman then stranded a runner at third with a strikeout in the fifth, recorded three straight outs in the sixth after a leadoff single and then ended the game with a strikeout and fly out in the seventh with a runner on second base to secure the victory.

Austin Adams (Atlanta, Ga./Whitewater) scored two runs on the afternoon for Prince George's while Josh Pietrandrea (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge) posted a hit and an RBI and Brandon Crosby (Richmond, Va./Atlee, Mechanicsville) registered a hit and a run scored. Tommy Petrosino Jr (Bayonne, N.J./St. Anthony's) notched three hits on the day, and Tyrone Miller Jr (Miami, Fla./Norland) was the hard-luck loser in the second game after along two runs (one earned) on eight hits with four strikeouts.

In the opener, the Owls were aided by some sloppy play to score two runs in the first. Adams led off the inning by being hit with a pitch and moved to second on an opposite field hit by Petrosino. Crosby laced a base hit to center and Adams held up at third before a throwing error allowed the sophomore to touch home. Crosby scurried home on a wild pitch with the second run for a 2-0 lead.

CCAC Boyce got a run in the fourth, but Bradley was able to escape some hits in the final three stanzas to lead the Largo team to the victory.

In the nightcap, CCAC Boyce scored the final two runs to earn the 2-1 win and a series sweep.

Just like the opener, Prince George's jumped out to the lead. Adams walked, stole second and moved to third on Petrosino's single to right. After Crosby walked, Adams scored on Pietrandrea's RBI single to center field for a 1-0 edge. With the bases loaded, a strikeout and a double play ended the threat.

CCAC Boyce tied the game in the second courtesy of an error.

Petrosino smacked an opposite field triple in the third, but a strikeout and groundout got CCAC Boyce out of the jam.

CCAC Boyce grabbed a 2-1 edge in the fifth on a quail bloop base hit to left. After the visitors took the lead, the Owls had nine of its 10 batters retired in the final three frames.

Prince George's was 2-for-7 in the second game with runners in scoring position and 4-for-13 on the afternoon.

The Owls return to action at the 2018 RussMatt Central Florida Invitational on Tuesday with games against Herkimer College (9:30 a.m.) and Oakton Community College (4 p.m.). The squad will play six games in the Sunshine State during the week.
