Adams Sparks Prince George's Baseball Past Hagerstown In Nightcap, 13-5

HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Austin Adams (Atlanta, Ga./Whitewater) recorded three RBIs and two runs scored to propel Prince George's Community College past Hagerstown Community College 13-5 in the second game of a Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) baseball doubleheader on Thursday.

Adams walked and scored in the first and then smacked a two-run double in the third and an RBI double in the fifth. The sophomore went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, two runs scored, two doubles and a walk in the Owls win.

Tommy Petrosino Jr (Bayonne, N.J./St. Anthony's) added a 2-for-4 performance with a pair of RBI singles for the Owls (15-20, 9-12 MD JUCO) while Josh Pietrandrea (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge) posted a 2-for-3 performance with two RBIs and two runs scored. Bay To (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti), who had a solo homer in the opening-game loss, picked up the win in the second game after allowing five runs (three earned) on six strikeouts in 5.2 innings pitched.

Prince George's jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the nightcap against the Hawks thanks a four-run first and a four-run third.

Adams opened the game with a walk and came around to score on Brandon Crosby's RBI single. After To single, Pietrandrea brought home Crosby on an RBI double. Dominic Marquez (Long Beach, Calif./Jordan) plated To on an RBI groundout and Petrosino scored Pietrandrea on a run-scoring single for a 4-0 lead.

Pietrandrea started a four-run rally in the third with a walk and Marquez singled before Petrosino hit an RBI single. After O'Neal Troche (Jersey City, N.J./St. Anthony's) walked, Pedro Montero smacked an RBI double and Adams drilled a two-run double for an 8-0 edge.

Sparked by a two-run triple by Jake Brewer (Gibson City, Ill./Gibson City Melvin Sibley), the Owls scored five times in the fifth to put the game away after Hagerstown cut the margin to 8-3.

Prince George's returns to action on Saturday at Frederick Community College for a doubleheader. First pitch is 12 p.m.
