Prince George's Baseball Falls To Harford In Rain-Shortened Affair

BEL AIR, Md. – Prince George's Community College scored two runs in three consecutive innings against Harford Community College before the game was called due to rain in the bottom of the seventh of a Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) baseball game on Tuesday.

Brandon Crosby (Richmond, Va./Atlee, Mechanicsville) paced the Owls (12-18, 7-11 MD JUCO) with a 2-for-4 performance with an RBI and two runs scored. The sophomore singled and scored in the fifth and then smacked an RBI double and scored in the sixth.

Shawn Alicea (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grand Street) added two hits, an RBI and a run scored while Pedro Montero (LaRomana, Dominican Republic/Colegio Nueva) posted two hits and a run scored and Josh Pietrandrea (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge) registered a hit, a run, and an RBI on the night.

Prince George's scored in three-straight innings to cut the margin to 3-2, 7-4 and 7-6 in a 14-6 loss.

Pietrandrea walked and Alicea doubled down the left field line to set up second and third for Jake Brewer (Gibson City, Ill./Gibson City Melvin Selby). The sophomore recorded an RBI single while an error on the play allowed both Pietrandrea and Alicea to touch home to cut the Harford lead to 3-2.

Prince George's scored two more runs in the fifth to cut the margin to 7-4. Montero opened the frame with a single through the left side and Crosby singled through the right-side hole. After a groundout moved both runners into scoring position, Montero crossed the plate on a wild pitch and Alicea smacked his second double of the night to bring in Crosby.

For the third-consecutive inning, the Owls put a two spot on the scoreboard to make it a one-run game. O'Neal Troche (Jersey City, N.J./St. Anthony's) was hit by a pitch and came around to score on Crosby's RBI double to right center. Pietrandrea then plated Crosby on a run-scoring single up the middle to cut the margin to 7-6 in the sixth.

Dominic Marquez (Long Beach, Calif./Jordan) took the loss for the Owls.

Prince George's returns to action on Wednesday at CCBC Essex. Game time is 3 p.m.
