Prince George's Baseball Set To Host CCAC South In NJCAA Region XX Division III Tournament

LARGO, Md. – The Prince George's Community College baseball team begins its quest for back-to-back National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XX Division III Baseball Tournament titles and fifth overall against CCAC South on Tuesday at the Prince George's Community College Baseball Field. First pitch is 2 p.m.

Fans attending the game will receive free Chick-fil-a sandwiches along with choices from the Prince George's Community College 50th Anniversary collection. 

The winner of the game between the Owls and the Tigers advances to the opening round of the NJCAA Region XX Division III Baseball Tournament on Friday at Westmoreland County Community College in Western Pennsylvania. The winner of Tuesday's game will face top-seeded Montgomery College on Friday at 1 p.m.

Freshman Josh Pietrandrea (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge) leads the team with a .422 batting average with 38 hits, 30 runs scored, seven doubles, two triples, five homers and 30 RBIs. Freshman Vinny Rotundo (New York, N.Y./Middletown) is second on the team with a .400 batting average with 26 hits, 20 runs scored, a team-high 10 doubles, a homer and 23 RBIs. Sophomore Bay To (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) leads the team with six home runs while ranking second on the squad in runs scored (31) and RBIs (28). Sophomore Austin Adams (Atlanta, Ga./Whitewater) has a team-best 39 runs scored and sophomore Brandon Crosby (Richmond, Va./Atlee, Mechanicsville) paces the team with 15 steals.

Left-hander Clark Reese (Greenbelt, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) leads the pitching staff with a 4-4 record and 49 strikeouts in 44.1 innings of work. The freshman has recorded 21 strikeouts in his last two starts and has posted a 2-0 record with a 1.80 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 15.0 innings pitched in his last three appearances. Right-hander Keaton Bradley (Bahama, N.C./Northern Durham) leads the team with a 3.55 ERA and ranks second in wins (3) and strikeouts (41). Right-handers Anthony Cavalier (Sarasota, Fla./Braden River) and Dominic Marquez (Long Beach, Calif./Jordan) rank third and fourth on the staff statistically. Both pitchers have two wins while Cavalier is third in innings (32.1) and strikeouts (23) and Marquez is right behind Cavalier in innings (31.2) and strikeouts (22).

Prince George's will be looking for its second-straight NJCAA Region XX Division III Tournament title and third overall under head coach Buddy Foster. The Owls also won the crown in 2014 and 2017. The squad is looking for its fifth region title in program history after winning the title in 1978 and 1979 under Donald "Cap" Redmiles, who is being inducted into the Prince George's Community College Inaugural Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame on May 15.
