Owls Down Shock 86-75

The Prince George's Community College men's basketball team rolled to their third straight victory as they remain undefeated on the year following an 86-75 victory against visiting Washington Adventist University JV on Thursday, November 16th.

The first half was tightly contested as both squads shot nearly identical from the floor, including the same number of made threes with four apiece as Prince George's entered the break with a slim 43-40 lead. Prince George's managed to go up by as many as 7 at one point during the half which the Shock cut into before halftime.

Freshman Jasir Tremble (Washington, D.C./Theodore Roosevelt) was the top scorer at the half with 12 points. Saveon Jackson (Kentland, MD/KIPP College Prep) was active with 8 points, 3 boards and assists, while adding a steal as well in the first 20 minutes. Justin Minor was again a staple for the Owls as he grabbed 7 rebounds and added 6 points.

Washington Adventist came out hot in the second half, putting together a 9-0 run to take control and force Prince George's to take a timeout and make adjustments. The Shock would take their biggest lead of the game, 57-50, at the 13:34 mark before the Owls went on a 13-2 run over the next several minutes to regain the lead which they never relinquished down the stretch to secure the 86-75 victory. The Owls have now won all three games this season by double digits and were once again supported by a loud home crowd in Novak as they went on to win their 12th consecutive regular season game dating back to last season.

Tremble and Jackson finished as the leading scorers with 24 and 23 points, respectively. Jackson also added 7 rebounds and 7 assists in the contest as well. Freshman Albert Mouring (Upper Marlboro, MD/Frederick Douglass) chipped in 14 points off the bench while logging a season-high 19 minutes of action. Mouring, typically used strictly as a perimeter shooter, also found success inside during Thursday's game as he went 6/10 from the floor which included a couple of tough finishes inside.

The reigning Maryland JUCO champs will now turn their attention to their first conference game of the year, a highly anticipated matchup on the road on Tuesday, November 21st at 7 PM against Division I Allegany College of Maryland who is currently 5-0 on the year.
