Owls Sneak Past Penn Highlands Late With 99-94 Road Win

The Prince George's Community College men's basketball team traveled to Johnstown, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, November 28th to take on Pennsylvania Highlands Community College in the Owls Region 20 Division III opener. A single point separated the two teams at the half after a jump shot by Avery Scott (Bowie, MD/DuVal) put Prince George's in front, 44-43. A tight second half featured several ties and lead changes which came down to the wire before Prince George's pulled away in the final minute, scoring the game's final 9 points to steal one late and improve to 4-1 on the season.

Tremble finished as the leading scorer for Prince George's with 29 points while adding 4 assists. Sophomore Saveon Jackson (Kentland, MD/KIPP Prep) had 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists before he fouled out with about three minutes remaining. Fellow sophomore Justin Minor (Largo, MD/Largo) and Scott both finished with 16 a piece with the latter grabbing 8 boards in his first start during his two seasons as an Owl.

The win kicks the Owls Region 20 DIII record off to 1-0 while the team remains perfect in DIII games with a 3-0 mark. 

Prince George's is back in Largo for their next game versus Chesapeake College on Friday, December 1st at 7 PM which begins a five-game home stand for the Owls.
