Prince George’s To Host Region 20 DIII Tournament With #1 Seed Secured

Prince George's Community College is set to host the 2024 NJCAA Region 20 Division III Men's Basketball Tournament next weekend, February 24-25, in Novak Field House. The host Owls will welcome a trio of colleges from Western Pennsylvania in Butler County Community College, Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC), and Pennsylvania Highlands Community College.

Prince George's women's team automatically advances as the Region Champion and will host Patrick and Henry, Region 10 champion in the Mid-Atlantic District Championship on Saturday, March 2nd at 12 PM, with a trip to the National Championship on the line. Prince George's is looking for their third consecutive trip to the National Championship after previously advancing in the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Current men's regular season standings and seeding for the tournament are listed below and will follow the succeeding schedule. The higher seed will wear light colored jersey throughout the tournament with awards announced following the championship game on Sunday.

The winner of the Region 20 title game will also host the Mid-Atlantic Championship on Saturday, March 2nd versus the winner between Region 10 and 17. The District Champion earns an automatic bid to the 2024 Division III Men's Basketball National Championship held in Herkimer, NY from March 13-16.

#1 Prince George's vs. #4 Penn Highlands – 12 pm

#2 CCAC vs. #3 Butler – 2 pm

Championship Game: Sunday, February 25th

Semi-final winner #1 vs. Semi-final winner #2 – 12 pm

 

Admission to the tournament is $10 per day while PGCC students, staff, and faculty as well as children 12 and under are free to enter. Re-entry is permitted throughout the day. Tickets are available for purchase in advance online at https://gofan.co/app/school/MD100038 or at the door using electronic payment only. Cash cannot be accepted.

All games will be live streamed on the Owls YouTube channel at youtube.com/PGCCOwls. Live stats will also be made available for each game.

Mr. Justin Douds, Prince George's Community College Vice President for Policy and General Counsel, will sing "The Star-Spangled Banner" before the tip-out of the semi-final games on Saturday, February 24th. While attending Georgetown University, Mr. Douds was a member of the Georgetown Chimes, a cappella group.
