Men’s Basketball Receives #7 Seed Ahead of National Championship

The Prince George's Community College men's basketball program will once again be one of twelve teams across the nation participating in the NJCAA National Tournament this year after receiving an automatic bid by defeating Sandhills Community College, 96-84, in the Mid-Atlantic District Championship on March 2nd. It was revealed during the 2024 NJCAA DIII Men's Basketball Selection Show that the Owls received the 7-seed which pits them against the 10-seed, Riverland Community College, in the first round on Wednesday, March 13 at 4 PM.

This tournament will be a standard twelve-team tournament, seeded 1-12. This tournament will be played on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The No. 1-4 seeds will receive a first-round bye. All games will be played at Herkimer College in Herkimer, NY.

The Owls find themselves back in the tournament after defending their home court throughout the postseason, defeating Allegheny County 96-59 to capture the Region 20 DIII title before downing Sandhills to earn the program's first automatic bid since the 2007-08 season when the team was still a Division II member.

The Owls (22-7) will face Riverland's Blue Devils (29-3) who received an at-large bid out of Region 13 after losing to the tournament's 6th seed Minnesota North – Rainy River in the championship game.

The winner of Wednesday's first round matchup will advance to the quarterfinals the following day at 8 PM versus 2nd seeded Northern Essex Community College who defeated Quincy College to claim the East District Championship. The loser will play in a consolation game the following day as well at 12 PM. The full championship bracket can be viewed here.

Each game will be live streamed on the NJCAA Network with package options that include single-game purchases or all-tournament passes. Live stats will also be available for each game
