Kalise Evans’ Jersey Headed to The Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame Ring of Honor
Prince George's Community College All-American sophomore Kalise Evans will have her jersey put on display in the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame Ring of Honor, it was announced by the Hall this past week. The Ring of Honor is an exhibit at the Hall of Fame located in Knoxville, Tennessee used to honor the nation's top players at every level.
Evans earned several honors and awards in her first season as an Owl which culminated with being named a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Second Team All-American. Prior to achieving All-American status, Evans earned the following accolades during the 2023-24 season: NJCAA Player of the Week, Second Team All-Maryland JUCO, Region 20 DIII Champion, Mid-Atlantic District Champion, and an appearance in the National Tournament held in Rochester, Minnesota.
Now one of a handful of returning sophomores for Prince George's, Evans will be tasked with leading the Owls as they enter the 2024 season as a Division II program after being elevated from the DIII level over the summer. Beginning her sophomore campaign with her previous jersey going into the Ring of Honor is certainly a good place to start for the Springdale, MD native.
Currently, the Ring of Honor consists of over 100 jerseys hanging from the rafters of the back rotunda at the Hall of Fame. By acknowledging these young athletes, the Hall of Fame can fulfill their mission to "honor the past, celebrate the present, and promote the future" of women's basketball. The display includes jerseys of the top high school and college players from the previous season. The Ring of Honor has displayed jerseys from some of the best players in the world including Candace Parker, Sue Bird, Kelsey Plum, Breanna Stewart, and Aja Wilson.
The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, which opened in 1999, is the only facility of its kind, dedicated to all levels of women's basketball. For more information on the Ring of Honor or the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame visit www.wbhof.com or call (865) 663-9000.
