Women’s Basketball Dominates Harford By 40

The Prince George's Community College women's basketball team took to the floor inside Novak Field House on Wednesday afternoon, December 6th to take on Harford Community College for a battle of the Owls. Harford's Fighting Owls struggled to put up much of a contest against Prince George's as the home Owls stormed to a 90-50 victory and improved to 3-1, (3-0 MD JUCO), on the season.

Prince George's was dominant from start to finish, not allowing to Harford to create any sort of momentum at any point during the game which led to forcing 30 turnovers, resulting in 39 total points by the final horn. The Owls outscored the Fighting Owls in all four quarters, outpacing Harford by a minimum of 8 points in each period. Prince George's held a comfortable lead, 45-25 by halftime which was led in part behind a team-high 14 points off the bench by freshman Tamia Washington (Suitland, MD/Mt. Zion Prep). Washington also had 4 assists, 3 steals, and 3 rebounds by the break. Kalise Evans (Springdale, MD/Charles Flowers), who was announced as the NJCAA DIII Women's Basketball Player of the Week just hours prior to tip-off, had 10 points and 5 rebounds herself to help the Owls to a 20-point cushion by the midway point.

Prince George's kept their foot on the gas in the second half, outscoring Harford 27-15 and 18-10 in the final two periods, respectively, en route to the 40-point thrashing over the Fighting Owls. Evans finished as the leading scorer in the contest and just missed out on a second straight double-double with 20 points and 9 boards. Washington ended up with 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals in 22 minutes off the bench. Jai'Den Anderson bounced back in the second half after a poor shooting line in the first to finish with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Monae Herman (Washington, D.C./Friendship Academy) picked up her first double-double with an 11-point, 11-rebound performance while the Owls lone sophomore Danielle Ellerbee (Brandywine, MD/Surrattsville) rounded out the top scorers with 10 points.

Prince George's continues their home stretch during a busy December with a game against Garrett College on Saturday, December 9th at 12 PM. Garrett enters with a 6-3 record, including 1-0 in MD JUCO play.
