Prince George’s Drops Matchup With Harford

The Prince George's Community College men's basketball team dropped their third consecutive game on Wednesday night, falling to Division I Harford Community College on the road, 83-78. The loss dropped the Owls record to 8-8 on the season while Harford improved to 8-13.

Both programs shot well from the floor throughout the matchup, with Prince George's hitting on just below 44% while Harford was even more efficient with a 50% mark on the evening. The Owls entered halftime up four, 41-37, while being led in scoring with 11 points apiece from Jalin Landis and Willie Rivera Jr.

Prince George's was able to maintain a slim lead for the first ten minutes coming out of halftime before Harford's Fighting Owls took control, 63-62, after a made three with under ten minutes to go. Teams traded baskets over the next few minutes before another made three from Harford at the 4:44 mark gave the home team their largest lead of the evening, 76-69. The Owls Casheus Covington responded with a clutch three-pointer for Prince George's to cut it down to four.

Prince George's later found themselves down three with one minute left, 81-78, and with the ball in their possession. The Owls created several opportunities over the final 60 seconds and were given one last chance after a missed Harford free throw with 13 seconds to go but the game-tying three came up short to give the ball back to the Fighting Owls who closed out the contest with a pair of free throws.

Landis finished as the top scorer on the evening with 19 points while Rivera Jr. finished just behind with 18. Lynn King III added 10 points and 8 boards for the Owls in the loss.

Prince George's will close out the month on Friday when the Owls travel to take on CCBC Catonsville (10-7) for a 7 PM tip.
