Men’s Basketball Drops Another Thriller vs. Ranked Opponent

The Prince George's Community College men's basketball team suffered their third loss in a row on Wednesday evening, falling to the NJCAA's 20^th ranked Montgomery Raptors in Rockville, MD, 85-84. Wednesday's loss had a similar feel to their previous game less than a week ago when the Owls lost their matchup against the then 24^th ranked Cecil College Seahawks by a single point as well, 84-83 in the final seconds.

The Owls were down big at the half, 57-34, but managed to claw back to within single digits, 68-59, before the ten-minute mark of the second half largely behind a 23-7 run over a 6-minute stretch. Minutes later Prince George's tied things up at 72 after a 13-4 run with the momentum going their way which the Owls used to take their very first lead of the game with 4:34 remaining, 77-76.

The Owls later found themselves up three, 84-81, with one minute left after hitting two free throws but were then held scoreless down the stretch while Montgomery connected on all four of their free throw attempts to steal it at the end, 85-84.

Jailin Landis led both teams in scoring with 34 points, 26 of which came in the second half to help lead the Owls comeback. Teammate Casheus Covington nearly had a double-double himself with 17 points and 9 rebounds in the defeat.

The loss drops the Owls to 5-4 on the season as the team looks to bounce back Friday when they welcome Frederick Community College to Novak Field House for a 7 PM tip.
