Late Heroics By Landis Lifts Owls to OT Victory

The Prince George's Community College men's basketball team won their second game in a row on Thursday, defeating Naval Academy JV 97-94 in overtime inside Alumni Hall in Annapolis, Maryland.

The Owls, who trailed by 11 at halftime, 46-35, rallied late in the second half behind Jailin Landis who made a game-tying layup at the end of regulation to force overtime with things tied up at 85. Prince George's then outscored Navy 12-9 in the 5-minute overtime period to secure the victory which was iced by a pair of made free throws from Landis. The Owls are now 2-0 in overtime games this season after previously defeating Erie Community College on the road over the past weekend, 84-81.

Landis, a sophomore from Capitol Heights, MD, had the best game of his collegiate career thus far, finishing with a 37-point, 10-rebound double-double in the win to help lead the Owls to a 5-1 record as the team looks ahead to December. He also added 5 assists and had 4 steals on the evening. Lynn King III also recorded a double-double with 17 points, 12 rebounds. Manuel Coronado and Casheus Covington both added 12 points apiece as well to round out the top scorers from Thursday's matchup.

Prince George's now has the next 12 days off before their next contest on Wednesday, December 4th against Hagerstown Community College in Novak Field House.
