Strong Second Half Dooms Prince George's Women's Basketball Against Butler County

LARGO, Md. – Prince George's Community College took a 46-34 into the locker room, but a strong second half by Butler County Community College propels the Pioneers past the Owls 79-70 in National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XX Division III women's basketball action on Friday.

Marche Sisco (Fort Washington, Md./Friendly) notched her second-collegiate double-double with 19 points and a career-high 11 steals. It is her first double-double with points and steals after registering a point-assist trick with 35 points and 11 assists against Middlesex County College on Nov. 2. The freshman added eight assists and five rebounds.

Sisco has scored double figures for the fourth-straight game and eighth time this season while posting at least 19 points for the seventh time in 2018-19. The freshman, who has 28 steals in her last three games, has tallied at least five thefts in each of her last seven contests and eight times on the year. She has also hauled in at least five rebounds in three-consecutive games and five times as a freshman. Sisco fuels the team with 20.4 points per game.

Misty Harewood (Oxon Hills, Md./Potomac) notched a career-high 19 points for her second double-figure point game of her career. The freshman posted 18 points against Jefferson Community College to set her previous personal best. Harewood stuffed the stat sheet with seven rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Quatazia Johnson (Hyattsville, Md./Northwestern) also reached double figures with 12 points along with six rebounds. It marks the third time this season she has notched 10 points in a game and narrowly missed her career high she set at Harford Community College of 13 points on Nov. 13. She hauled in at least five rebounds for the third time this season.

Imani Andrews (Suitland, Md./Crossland) posted six points and 12 rebounds. It marked the second-straight game the freshman has grabbed 12 caroms in a game and is averaging 11.3 rebounds per game in her last three tilts. Andrews has scored at least six points three times this year.

Gia Thomas (Riverdale, Md./Fairmont Heights), who recorded a career-high 13 boards against Howard Community College on Jan. 17, 2017, notched her second career double-digit rebound contest and first in 2018-19.

Powered by nine points apiece by Harewood and Sisco, Prince George's took a 28-19 lead after the first quarter. The squad closed out the period with a 13-4 spurt after trailing 15-11 with 3:29 left in the opening quarter. Harewood sparked the run with seven points 

The Owls opened the second quarter with an 11-3 run to take their largest lead at 39-22. Johnson powered the spurt with five points. The Largo team went into the break with a 46-34 advantage.

Butler County used a 24-11 third quarter to take the lead for good on a free throw with 16 seconds left in the third period at 58-57. The Pioneers outscored Prince George's 21-13 in the final frame.

Nehemie Vilain (Hyattsville, Md./Northwestern) chipped in six points and five rebounds for the Owls.

Prince George's wraps up the 2018 portion of the schedule on Tuesday at home against Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute. Tipoff is 5 p.m.
