Prince George’s Women’s Basketball Selected As No. 8 Seed In National Championship, Faces Northland In First Round

The Prince George's Women's Basketball team is headed to the NJCAA Division III National Championship for the first time since the 2014-15 season when the Owls were chosen as the number 8 seed. Seven years later the NJCAA has for the first time ever, added four at-large berths for division III women's basketball, increasing the tournament field to 12 teams.

Given an automatic bid as a result of winning the Southeast District Championship over Region 5 Champion Dallas College – Cedar Valley, the Owls were chosen as the number 8 seed yet again. Announced via the 2022 NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball Selection Show, the Owls will take on the 9th seeded Northland Community & Technical College. The Pioneers, who were selected as an at-large berth, finished the year as the number two program in the national rankings but failed to make it past the semifinals of the North Plains B District Championship.

The Owls now play as host to Northland in the very first game of the Championship in Rochester, MN in the first round on Wednesday, March 9th at 1 PM ET. The winner will advance to the quarterfinals the next day to face number 1 seeded Owens Community College. The loser will face whoever loses between number 5 seed Monroe-Bronx and 12 seed North Country in a consolation game which will determine the final placings of teams 1-12. A full Championship bracket can be viewed here.

Each game will be live streamed on the NJCAA Network with package options that include single-game purchases or all-tournament passes.
