Lady Owls Upended By Howard Community College

The Prince George's Community College Women's basketball team fell to Howard Community College 64-43 on the road on Wednesday afternoon, February 2nd. The Owls 43 points was the lowest that Prince George's has scored all season. The loss drops Prince George's to 12-4 overall and 6-2 in Maryland JUCO.

The first period saw both teams come out cold with the Dragons taking a 12-6 lead. The Owls found themselves in some foul trouble by the end of the second period with both freshmen Tori Tolson and Janiah Williams picking up three fouls each. The Owls began to play more efficiently in the third period behind 6 points and 3 rebounds from Williams but were still outscored by the Dragons 16-18.

Down 16 entering the final period the Owls were able to piece together a 7-0 run at one point and cut the Dragons lead down to 11 (52-41) before Tolson fouled out with 4:48 remaining. Prince George's wasn't able to keep the momentum going as the Dragons put a stop to any Owls comeback down the stretch.

Freshman Vanessa Schwarzmann finished as the Owls leading scorer with 14 points and collected 6 rebounds. RaMyah Yearwood notched 12 points with 7 rebounds while Janiah Williams recorded 10 points, 8 rebounds.

The Owls will travel to Bel Air, MD on Friday, February 4th to take on Harford Community College for their next matchup. Tipoff is set for 5 PM.
