Largo Md. - The Owls women's basketball team clinched a berth to the 2014-15 National Championship, beating Western Georgia Technical College 66-58 in the District G finals held at Prince George's Community College on Saturday, February 28, 2015.

Western Georgia came out strong early in the first half and were able to maintain a 2 point lead heading into the half. It took midway through the second half for the Lady Owls to grab their first lead of the game and they never looked back.

With this win, the Lady Owls captured their first District title since joining Division III and will battle against the best teams Division III women's basketball has to offer on March 12-15 at the nationals. The NJCAA Division III National Basketball Championship will be hosted by Northampton Community College, Bethlehem, Pa.

Markaila Carter scored a game-leading 28 points. Jaida Jenkins added 17 and 15 rebounds.

Sabriena Shubert scored 10 points in the win and was the top scorer off the Lady Owls bench.

Owls coach Tiona Harris was pleased with her team's overall performance and thinks going to the nationals is a much deserved accomplishment for the institution, players and coaching staff.
