Intense matchup between top rivals

By MACHEL MILLWOOD

Rockville, Md. - The lady Owls lost a close game down the stretch against top rivals Montgomery College on Saturday, January 10, after both teams were tied at 25 points apiece going into the half.

Both teams came into this game with similar win percentages, with the lady Owls having 7 wins and 4 losses while the Raptors had 9 wins and 6 losses. This created for an exciting matchup for both teams and fans alike, as they saw the game going down to the wire with Montgomery getting a slight edge with less than 2 minutes to go. This edge created an 8 point gap which proved to be too much for the lady Owls to overcome.

This loss handed the lady Owls their 5th defeat of the season but coaches and players alike thought it was a winnable game despite losing by a score of 68-60. Jada Jenkins was top scorer for the Owls with 21 points and 18 rebounds and Domonique Matthews added 14 points and 3 assist.

The team will look to bounce back on Wednesday, January 14, when they host Hagerstown Community College. This will be the lady Owls first home game of the year. Tipoff is set for 5:00 PM.
