Gina Seifert Nabs Second NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball Player Of The Week Honor

LARGO, Md. – For the second time in five weeks, Prince George's Community College women's basketball sophomore Gina Seifert (Owings, Md./Northern) has been named the National Junior College Athletic Conference (NJCAA) Division III Player of the Week. Seifert first garnered the award for the week of Nov. 13-19.

Seifert continued her dominance with her second-straight 30-point performance against NJCAA Division I Chesapeake to match her career high set one week prior against CCBC Catonsville on Dec. 6 and also hauled in a career-best 20 rebounds against the Skipjacks. She shot 13-for-21 from the floor and 4 of 6 from the free throw line while hauling in five offensive and 15 defensive rebounds while also tallying two assists, three steals and a block in the lone contest of the week for the Owls.

Seifert has scored double figures in all 11 games this season including four 20-point performances and two 30-point games. She has also registered double figures in rebounds in nine of the 11 games for nine double-doubles and has registered 15 or more rebounds seven times this season. In the three games in the month of December, Seifert is averaging 26.3 points and 17.6 rebounds per game.

For the year Seifert is averaging 20.9 points and 14.7 rebounds per game. She sits fourth in NJCAA Division III in rebounding and 18th in scoring. She is averaging 13.9 points and 11.0 rebounds per game for her career while boasting 502 points and 397 rebounds in 36 games for the Largo program.

Prince George's returns to action on Wednesday night at Montgomery. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
