opening tip… Prince George's heads up to Western Pennsylvania for a pair of NJCAA Division III Region XX games this weekend. The Owls will travel to Butler County on Friday and then wrap up the trip with a tilt against Westmoreland County on Saturday. Prince George's defeated Butler County last season in the Region XX semifinals while the Owls and Westmoreland County last met two years ago in Largo with the Owls coming out victorious.

last time out…  Gina Seifert matched a career high with 25 points while adding 16 rebounds to power Prince George's Community College past Allegany College of Maryland 76-57 on Wednesday. Seifert, who recorded 25 points in the season-opening victory against Cumberland County on Nov. 1, shot 9-for-17 from the floor and converted 7 of 8 from the free throw line for her 25 points. It marked the second time this season the sophomore has posted 20 points in a game and the third time in her career. She also hauled in 16 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season and the 12 of her career. Seifert stuffed the stat sheet by adding five steals, three assists and two blocks on the night. Imani Yates also notched a career-high 17 points for the Owls and her first collegiate double-double after finishing with 10 rebounds. The freshman also had five assists. Myanna Strong notched 13 points in the game after scoring a career-high 18 points against Pennsylvania Highlands on Nov. 8

next time on the hardwood… Prince George's returns home after the Thanksgiving holiday against Cecil College to start a four-game homestand. The Owls will also be playing five of their next six games at Novak Field House.

having a career day… Sophomore Gina Seifert notched a career-high 25 points against Cumberland County on Nov. 1 and matched the total against Allegany (Md.) on Nov. 15. Freshman Imani Yates registered a career-best 17 points against Allegany (Md.). Sophomore Myanna Strong led the way for the Owls against Pennsylvania Highlands on Nov. 8 with a career-high 18 points. Freshman Rickkia Jackson has registered a career-high 10 rebounds three times this season including against Allegany (Md.).

the point is double figures… Sophomore Asisha Greene has posted double figures in all 27 games she has played. Sophomore Markaila Carter has scored double digits in 24 of the 26 games she has played for the Largo program. Sophomore Gina Seifert has posted double figures in points five times this season and 21 times in her career. Sophomore Myanna Strong has four 10+ point games in her career including two this season while freshman Imani Yates has reached double figures in points twice this campaign.

20-20 vision…
 Sophomore Asisha Greene has scored 20 points in a game 17 times in her career including 11 games with at least 25 points. Sophomore Markaila Carter has posted 20 points five times in her career while fellow sophomore Gina Seifert has three 20-point performances, including two 25-point performances this season

on the boards…
 Sophomore Gina Seifert has reached double figures in rebounds 21 times in her career including four times in 2017-18. Sophomore Asisha Greene has 10 games with 10 rebounds or more. Freshman Rickkia Jackson has three 10+ rebound game this season and Imani Yates has won double-digit rebound game. Sophomore Markaila Carter had a 10-board game in 2014-15.

double trouble… Sophomore Gina Seifert has 14 double-doubles in her career including two this season while sophomore Asisha Greene has 10 double-doubles and sophomore Markaila Carter has one double-double from her freshman year. Freshman Imani Yates notched her first career double-double against Allegany College of Maryland on Nov. 15.

the word on the pioneers… Butler County comes into the contest 1-4 after falling to Potomac State on Wednesday.

the word on the wolfpack… Westmoreland County comes into the contest 3-1 after falling to Penn State DuBois on Tuesday.

one seifert to rule them all… After playing with her sister Lisa Seifert last season, sophomore Gina Seifert returns in 2017-18 to Prince George's with Lisa now at Salisbury University. The sophomore ranked second on the team with 11.0 points and a team-best 9.4 rebounds per game last season. She has posted three 20-point performances and 21 games with at least 10 points in her two-year career. The sophomore has 21 double-figure rebound performances and 13 double-doubles in her career. In the classroom, Gina Seifert was a 4.0 student last year to earn NJCAA All-Academic first team honors. Seifert is the third of three siblings to play at Prince George's Community College. Along with Lisa, her older brother Stevie was a member of the 2014 NJCAA World Series Owls baseball team. Her mother Teresa has been a professor for 32 years in Largo, was once the women's basketball head coach and was just named the Owls new softball head coach in the fall.

nice to see you again…
 Sophomore Markaila Carter returns to the Owls after playing women's basketball in Largo for the 2014-15 season. Carter averaged 16.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game while recording 96 assists and 86 steals in that campaign. That season Prince George's also won the NJCAA Region XX Division III Tournament for the fourth time and advanced to the national tournament. Carter posted double figures in points in 23 of the 24 games she played as a freshman including a career-high 28 points against West George Technical in the district championships on Feb. 28, 2015.

welcome to the perch… Head coach Tiona Harris has added freshman Camry GanttDaja LattenRickkia Jackson, Giovanni Thomas and Imani Yates to the team in 2016-17.

that's gold, jerry, gold… Prince George's is celebrating its 50th Anniversary of Prince George's Athletics in 2017-18. Prince George's unveiled gold uniforms for men's soccer against Cecil on Sept. 15 as part of the 50th Anniversary of Prince George's Athletics, A Celebration of the Past, Present, And Future. The men's and women's basketball teams will unveil their gold jerseys for the doubleheader against CCBC Catonsville on Dec. 6 and then will be wearing them for select games the rest of the season.

alumni appreciation night… The athletics department will be holding Alumni Appreciation Night that will also include Prince George's faculty and staff on Dec. 6 against CCBC Catonsville at 5/7 p.m. Alumni, faculty or staff that wish to participate in the event must pre-register at www.pgccowls.com/alumninight in order to receive up to four free tickets, a free gift and discounted meals. Deadline is Dec. 1. Prince George's will also be holding a Kid's Night Out on Jan. 17.

hall of fame… Prince George's will be holding its inaugural Hall of Fame as part of the 50th Anniversary celebration. Nominations are currently being accepted until Dec. 15 by going to www.pgccowls.com/halloffame.

hosting maryland juco tournament… Prince George's will be hosting the Maryland JUCO Tournament for both men's and women's basketball on Feb. 23-25.

women's basketball tradition… The women's basketball team has won the Maryland JUCO Tournament seven times (1973-74, 1974-75, 1977-78, 1978-79, 1985-86, 1988-89 and 2000-01) and the NJCAA Region XX title four times (1974-75, 1988-89, 2005-06 and 2015-16).

about the coach… Head coach Tiona Harris, a former women's basketball standout at Prince George's Community College, begins her seventh season as head coach of the Owls. She guided the Owls to the 2014-15 NJCAA Region XX Division III title and a trip to the national tournament.
