Seifert's Career Night With 30-20 Vision Not Enough For Prince George's Women's Basketball At Cheapeake

WYE MILLS, Md. – Despite a career night in points and rebounds for sophomore Gina Seifert (Owings, Md./Northern), Prince George's Community College falls to Chesapeake College 83-65 in Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) women's basketball action on Thursday.

Coming off establishing a career high in points with her first collegiate 30-point performance against CCBC Catonsville on Dec. 6, Seifert tied her career best with 30 points on Thursday at Chesapeake. The sophomore shot 13-for-21 from the floor and 4 of 6 from the free throw line to notch her fourth game of 25 points or more this season, the sixth 20-point game of the season and seventh of her career. Coming into the contest, Seifert's season high in rebounds was 18 boards and her career-high was 19 points last year against CCBC Catonsville on Feb. 3, 2017. The sophomore established a new personal best with 20 caroms on Thursday for her sixth game of the year with at least 15 rebounds and ninth of her career. She has posted double figures in rebounds nine times this season for nine double-doubles on the year and 19 in her career after scoring double digits in all 11 games in 2017-18.

Freshman Daja Latten (Washington, D.C./Cardozo Education Campus) also had a career night for the Owls (5-6, 2-2 MD JUCO) after finishing with her first career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. The points were a career best for Latten while the freshman reached double figures in boards for the second time this season and second time in the last three games.

Fellow freshman Camry Gantt (Landover, Md./Fairmont Heights) nearly had her second career 10-point game but ended the night with nine points and three steals. Sophomore Myanna Strong (Upper Marlboro, Md./Largo) registered a team-high six assists on the night.

The Skipjacks took the opening quarter by a score of 23-17 while Prince George's held a slim 14-13 margin in the second quarter to give Chesapeake a 36-31 lead at the break. The Skipjacks then took the final two quarters by the scores of 23-13 and 24-21 to earn the victory.

The Owls return to action on Wednesday with their final game before the New Year at Montgomery. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
