Prince George's Women's Basketball Upended By Cecil College

LARGO, Md. – Prince George's Community College falls to Cecil College 97-57 in Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) women's basketball action on Wednesday.

Imani Yates (Seat Pleasant, Md./Friendship Collegiate) paced the Owls (4-4, 1-1 MD JUCO) with 20 points and six rebounds. The freshman notched her second 20-point performance of her career after scoring 24 points in a victory against Butler County on Nov. 17. She has posted double figures in points in four of her last five contests. Yates also grabbed six rebounds and dished out two assists on the night.

Gina Seifert (Owings, Md./Northern), who was named the National Junior College Athletic Association Women's Basketball Division III Player of the Week on Nov. 21, posted 14 points and eight rebounds in her first tilt since winning the honor last week. Seifert has registered double figures in points in all eight games this season and has hauled in 10+ rebounds in six of eight tilts this year.

Myanna Strong (Upper Marlboro, Md./Largo) added 11 points for her fourth double-figure point performance in her last five games. Rickkia Jackson (Washington, D.C./Ballou) tallied eight points and six rebounds in the loss.

Cecil jumped out to a 10-0 advantage and never looked back to take each quarter by the scores of 21-8, 23-12, 24-20 and 29-17 to earn the victory.

Prince George's returns to action on Saturday at home against Potomac State College. Tipoff is 2 p.m.
