Tony Galeano Named Prince George's Men's Soccer Head Coach

LARGO, Md. – Prince George's Community College Athletics Director Jo Ann Rogers Todaro has announced the hiring of Tony Galeano as the men's soccer head coach.

Galeano is a veteran soccer head coach with 15 years of experience coaching in the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO). He has produced 16 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Americans, four NJCAA Academic All-Americans, two NJCAA National Championship appearances, five NJCAA Region XX Tournament titles, 12 Region XX Tournament Championship Game appearances and four MD JUCO crowns. He has been named the MD JUCO Coaches Coach of the Year once and three NJCAA Region XX and MD JUCO Coach of the Year honors each.

"First off, I would like to thank Athletics Director Jo Ann Rogers Todaro and Prince George's Community College for this wonderful opportunity," said Galeano. "I am very excited to write the next chapter of my coaching career at Prince George's Community College. I am even more excited to do what I love - helping young men reach their goals on the field, and most important, in the classroom and in life. I am also excited to continue the tradition of excellence and winning that has been created from the legacy of the previous coaches at Prince George's."  

Galeano comes to Largo after serving as the head coach of the College of Southern Maryland men's soccer program from 2002-11 and 2017. The squad won the NJCAA Division I Region XX title in 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2011 and advanced to the national tournament in 2011. The men's soccer program also participated in the NJCAA Division I Region XX title game in 2002, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. He had five players that signed professional contracts, three USA National Futsal team players and 12 All-Americans. Galeano also served on the National Rankings Committee from 2002-11 and was awarded the Board of Trustees Excellence Award in 2005.

A junior college product, Galeano was an all-conference, all-region and all-mid-east player for Charles County Community College. He then transferred to Wingate University where he was named to the All-Tournament team of the Presbyterian College Nike Challenge while he helped the team to a No. 5 national ranking. He has also played professionally in the United States Soccer League with the Eastern Shore Sharks (1999-00) and played in international tournaments in Portugal in 2007 and 2008.
