CUMBERLAND, Md. – Edwin Claros (Adelphi, Md./High Point) posted four goals to power No. 10 Prince George's Community College past Allegany College of Maryland 7-1 in National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Region XX and Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) men's soccer action on Friday.
Claros, who has played the roll of facilitator for the last six matches with 11 assists, registered three first half goals with scores in the eighth, 30th and 37th minute. The sophomore capped his career-high four-goal performance with a tally in the 52nd minute and handed out an assist in the 56th minute for a nine-point afternoon. He now has 17 markers and 17 feeders for 61 points and 34 goals and 26 assists for 94 points in his two-year career. His 17 assists rank among the leaders in the NJCAA.
Roshawn Panton (Bowie, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt), who is among the nation's leaders in goals, added his 21st score of the season off an Edwin Claros assist in the 56th minute. Delon Ramdeen (Landover, Md./Charles H. Flowers) notched his fourth goal of the season in the 19th minute and dished out his first assist on Claros' second score of the day while Moh Sherif (Capital Heights, Md./Central) notched his third marker in four matches.
William Chavez (Hyattsville, Md./Parkdale) handed out feeders Edwin Claros' first goal and Sherif's score. Cristian Benavides (Laurel, Md./Overseas) notched his sixth helper on Ramdeen's tally. Maxwell Kirksey-Walcott (Lanham, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) helped give Claros his fourth collegiate hat trick and second of the season with his first career feeder and Dominique Koudjodi (Beltsville, Md./High Point) assisted on Claros' final score of the afternoon.
Saul Sosa (Upper Marlboro, Md./Dr. Henry Wise) made six saves for the Owls (11-3-0, 8-3-0 MD JUCO) in the winning effort.
Prince George's wraps up its regular season and four-game road trip at CCBC Catonsville on Tuesday. The match will be played at CCBC Dundalk and at 6 p.m.
