Panton's Four-Goal Performance Sparks Prince George's Against Northern Virginia, 5-3

HERNDON, Va. – Roshawn Panton (Bowie, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) continues to be a scoring machine after posting four goals to propel Prince George's Community College past Northern Virginia Community College 5-3 on Tuesday.

The freshman posted two goals in each half, including three of the final markers on the day to finish with a career-high four goals. Panton tied the game at 1 in the 30th minute before giving the Owls (7-2-0) the lead for good in the 44th minute and then sealing the victory with consecutive goals in the 64th and 69th minutes. Panton has posted hat tricks in two-straight matches and fourth in his last six contests. The freshman leads the team with 17 goals and four assists for 38 points.

Brian Ngoh (Fort Washington, Md./Friendly) notched his third goal of the season and Perry Lawrence recorded his first career assist. Jonathan Claros (Adelphi, Md./High Point) made four saves in the winning effort.

Everton Bailey, Andrew Bailey and Gabriel Rickmann each found the twine for the Nighthawks (6-2-0) in the loss.

The two teams traded the lead for most of the first half before Panton rolled off three of the final goals to help Prince George's pull away for the victory.

After Andrew Bailey tied the match at 2 at the 42:57, Panton stole the ball from a Northern Virginia player and found the back of the net 20 seconds later to give the Owls the lead for good with one minute, 43 seconds left in the half.

Rickmann tied the game at 3 at 53:44, but then Panton posted consecutive markers at the 63:48 and 68:55 markers to give Prince George's the lead for good.

Everton Bailey got the scoring started in the match with a tally at 24:44 to give the Nighthawks a 1-0 edge.

Panton answered unassisted at 29:10 to square the match at 1 before Ngoh gave the Owls a 2-1 lead on a header at 41:58. Panton then scored twice in the second half to secure the victory.

Prince George's returns to action on Friday night at the PGCC Bermuda Soccer Field. Match time is 6 p.m.
