Eighth-Ranked Prince George's Men's Soccer Takes Down Hagerstown Thanks To Third-Straight Shutout, 5-0

LARGO, Md. – Eighth-ranked Prince George's Community College registered its third-straight shutout en route to a 5-0 victory against Hagerstown in Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) men's soccer action on Tuesday.

Jonathan Claros (Adelphi, Md/High Point) made for saves in the first 85 minutes of the match while Saul Sosa played the remaining minutes to share the clean-sheet victory.

Roshawn Panton (Bowie, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) paced the Owls (5-1-0, 4-1-0 MD JUCO) with his 10th goal of the season along with two assists. The freshman leads the team with 10 tallies and four assists for 24 points.

Edwin Claros (Adelphi, Md./High Point) added his ninth score of the season and an assist. He ranks second on the team with nine markers and five assists for 23 points.

William Chavez (Hyattsville, Md./Northwestern) registered his first career goal in the match while Brian Ngoh (Fort Washington, Md./Friendly) recorded a score in his second-straight match and AJ Okey-Uche (Springdale, Md.) notched his third marker of the year in the winning effort.

Eduardo Araujo turned away five shots for the Hawks (4-2-2, 3-2-1 MD JUCO) in the loss.

Prince George's scored three times in a span of 10 minutes in the first half and twice in 12 minutes in the final frame to earn its third-straight victory.

After nearly 30 scoreless minutes, Okey-Uche found the back of the twine off a feed from Panton at 29:45 for a 1-0 edge.

Edwin Claros then danced around the defender and twinkled the twine at the 37:23 mark for a two-goal lead. For the second time in five days Ngoh headed in a goal, this time off a corner kick pass from Erick Colindres (Hyattsville, Md./Parkdale) to cap the first-half scoring at 39:53 for a 3-0 advantage.

Panton, who leads the team in tallies, decided to help Chavez find the back of the net for the first time in his collegiate career at 60:29. Panton then sealed the win thanks to some beautiful passing by Edwin Claros and Cristian Benavides (Laurel, Md./Overseas) at the 72:07 mark for a 5-0 victory.

The Owls, who remained No. 8 in the National Junior College Athletic Association Men's Soccer Division III Rankings on Tuesday, returns to action on Friday at home against Anne Arundel. Match time is 4 p.m.
