Brookdale Comes To Town On Saturday; Prince George's Men's Soccer Drops 2-0 Match To Anne Arundel

LARGO, Md. – Prince George's Community College falls 2-0 in National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Region XX and Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) men's soccer action on Friday.

Edwin Claros (Adelphi, Md./High Point) posted a team-best five shots and Roshawn Panton (Bowie, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) had four shots on the night. Jonathan Claros (Adelphi, Md./High Point) made two saves in the loss.

The Owls (5-2-0, 4-2-0 MD JUCO) battles Brookdale on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Jersey Blues come into the match 3-3-1 after ending in a scoreless draw against Raritan Valley on Thursday. The two teams will square off for the first time since 2014.

Russ Gruss registered a goal and an assist for the Riverhawks (4-4-0, 4-2-0 MD JUCO) while Noah Beall had a tally and Austin Noland recorded eight saves.

Anne Arundel scored twice in first 18 minutes of the match. Gruss found Beall at 3:50 for the first goal of the match and then Gruss found the twine assisted at 17:27 for a 2-0 lead.

The match marked the first time this season the Owls have been shutout this season, but the squad had several opportunities to score in the match.

Edwin Claros hit the post seven seconds and the 35th minute in the match while William Chavez (Hyattsville, Md./Northwestern) also hit the post in the 35th minute. Claros also had shots saved in the 41st minute and 42nd minute. Panton (19th minute and 35th minute) and Brian Ngoh (Fort Washington, Md./Friendly) (13th minute and 32nd minute) and Perry Lawrence (Langley Park, Eleanor Roosevelt) (28th minute and 34th minute).

Prince George's and Brookdale are set to play at the PGCC Bermuda Soccer Field on Saturday. Match time is 1 p.m.
