Prince George’s Women’s Basketball To Host Central Carolina In Mid-Atlantic District Championship On Saturday

After winning the Region 20 Championship over Butler County this past weekend, the 8th ranked Prince George's Lady Owls will host Region 10 representative Central Carolina Community College in the Mid-Atlantic District Championship. The game will take place in Novak Field House on Saturday, March 4th at 1 PM. This marks the third straight season the women's program has hosted a District Championship, having lost in 2020 before the Owls advanced to the National Championship in 2022 following a year off due to COVID.

The Owls have experienced an up-and-down season at times this year with a difficult schedule that included three games against ranked Division II programs. Despite the majority of their schedule being played above their Division, the Owls enter Saturday's contest with a 13-8 record on the year which includes a perfect 8-0 mark against DIII opponents. Central Carolina enters with a 7-15 overall record.

With a roster that features 6 returners from a National Tournament team from a year ago and another season under their belt, coach May and his squad will look to make it 9 wins in divisional games to keep their goal of a National Championship in sight. Saturday offers another chance to do just that as the winner will advance to the National Championship held in Rochester, Minnesota from March 15th – 18th.

All Prince George's Community College students, staff, and faculty are free to enter Saturday's game with a current college ID. Prince George's County Public Schools staff and students can also enter at no cost with a current school ID. All other spectators above the age of 12 must purchase a ticket for $5 cash only at the door.
