Lady Owls Grab No. 8 Seed In National Tournament

The Prince George's Community College women's basketball team is headed back to the NJCAA Division III National Championship in Rochester, MN as the 8th seed for the second consecutive year. Prince George's learned of its seeding during the 2023 NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball Selection Show on Wednesday, March 8th where all 12 teams in contention for a national title learned who they'll be facing.

Prince George's (14-8) earned an automatic bid to the tournament after defeating Central Carolina, 63-52 in the Mid-Atlantic District Championship inside Novak Field House on Saturday, March 4th. The win marked the second year in a row that the Owls have hosted and won their district in front of a home crowd.

The Owls, who are led by head coach Devin May in his second year with the program, will take on 9th seeded Anoka-Ramsey in the very first game of the tournament on Wednesday, March 15th at 1 PM EST. Anoka-Ramsey enters the tournament representing as the North Plains B District Championship with a 20-9 record. The winner will advance to the quarterfinals the next day to take on the tournament top seed and reigning National Champions, Owens Community College. The other will face whoever loses between number 5 seed Minnesota West and 12 seed Northampton in a consolation game. The full championship bracket can be viewed here.
