BRACKET

LARGO, Md. – The Prince George's Community College baseball team has been seeded sixth and will face third seed Tyler Junior College in the opening round of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III World Series on Saturday at Pioneer Park in Greeneville, Tennessee. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m.

In other opening round matchups, Cumberland County (N.J.) (53-6) was tabbed as the top seed and will face No. 8 Surry (N.C.) (29-22-1) at 12:30 p.m. and No. 4 Century (Minn.) (33-12) will battle No. 5 Northampton (Pa.) (34-7) at 9 a.m. while No. 2 Niagara County (N.Y.) (43-8) and No. 7 Delta (Minn.) (32-21) will square off at 7 p.m. on Saturday on the Owls side of the bracket.

If Prince George's defeats Tyler (37-20), the Owls will face the winner of Niagara County-Delta on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. while a loss on Saturday would pit Prince George's against the loser of Niagara County-Delta on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. in the double elimination tournament.

Prince George's, who is having one of its best seasons in program history at 33-13-1, advanced to the NJCAA Division III World Series for the second time under head coach Buddy Foster after winning the NJCAA Division III Region XX Tournament in three games on May 14-16 and then took two of three from Surry Community College to claim the NJCAA District D Championship on May 19-20. After District F vacated its spot in the tournament and per NJCAA rule District D runner-up advances to send Surry to the World Series too.

The Largo program also went to the NJCAA Division III World Series in 2014, falling to St. Cloud Technical & Community College 18-11 and Waubonsee 12-6 in the two games hosted at the Mike Carter Field in Tyler, Texas.
