Prince George's Baseball Stays At No. 8 In NJCAA Division III Baseball Rankings

LARGO, Md. – The Prince George's Community College baseball team maintains its No. 8 ranking in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Baseball Rankings, announced on Tuesday. The Owls have been nationally ranked in four of the last five weeks.

Prince George's went 3-2 in the week after falling 14-8 to CCBC Catonsville on Thursday before taking two from Region XX rival Westmoreland on Saturday by scores of 8-4 and 3-0. The squad wrapped up the week with a twinbill split with Garrett after falling 8-5 and then winning the second game 5-4 thanks to a walk-off wild pitch. The Owls received 20 points for the second-straight week to sit in eighth for the second time this season.

Cumberland County remained the unanimous No. 1 team in the nation after receiving all seven first-place votes for the second-straight week with 70 points. Niagara County earned 59 points to move up to second place while St. Cloud Tech (54 points), Rowan Gloucester (50 points), Northampton (37 points), Tyler (35 points), Century (24 points), Prince George's (20 points), Brookhaven (14 points) and Riverland (11 points) rounded out the 10-team poll.

The Owls have won 11 of their last 14 games and 18 of their last 24 contests. Prince George's, who has won 20 games for the first time under head coach Buddy Foster, is 28-11-1 on the year, including 12-10-1 against Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference opponents. The Largo team is 14-6-1 against Division II programs and 9-1 against Division III opponents this season.

Prince George's, who swept a doubleheader against the College of Southern Maryland on Tuesday, travels to Cecil on Thursday. First pitch is 3 p.m.
