Prince George's Baseball Enters NJCAA Division III Baseball Rankings In Ninth Spot

LARGO, Md. – Winners of seven of its last nine games, the Prince George's Community College baseball team has entered the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Baseball Rankings in the ninth spot. This is the first time this year the Owls have been ranked in the national poll.

Prince George's, Eastfield and Rockingham each registered 12 points to finish tied in the poll for ninth. Tyler received five first-place votes to earn the top spot with 66 points while Brookdale (62 points) and Cumberland County (57 points) picked up one first-place vote each to finish second and third in the poll. Rowan Gloucester (53 points), St. Cloud Tech (37 points), Century (35 points), Niagara County (24 points) and Waubonsee (15 points) rounded out the Top-8 teams in the field ahead of Prince George's.

Since ending a five-game winless streak with a 15-5 win against Finger Lakes on Mar. 25, the Owls have won seven of its last nine games including six wins against NJCAA Division III opponents. The Largo program has won seven straight against Division III teams and holds a 7-1 mark against the division this year.  

Prince George's (17-7-1), who is coming off a doubleheader sweep against rival Montgomery with a 14-11 win in the opener and a 3-2 victory in the nightcap on Saturday, return to action on Tuesday at Harford. The Fighting Owls of Harford are receiving votes in the NJCAA Division I poll. Game time is 6:30 p.m.
