The Prince George's Community College women's basketball team grew their winning streak to three games on Tuesday night, defeating the visiting Howard Community College Dragons in a 57-45 showdown.
A low scoring defensive battle throughout the evening, Prince George's led early on but struggled in the second frame with just 8 points scored to enter halftime down 23-21. The Owls Tamia Washington and Nia Grymes led the team in scoring at the break with 5 points apiece.
Prince George's flipped the script in the third period, allowing Howard to manage only 7 points while the Owls regained control, 36-30 entering the final ten minutes. Despite Howard's improved attack in the last quarter, Prince George's did just enough to keep the Dragons out of striking distance as they grew their lead to double digits and held off any chance of a comeback attempt by Howard down the stretch.
Kryslynn Stewart once again led her team in scoring in the Owls victory which snapped a ten-game winning streak for Howard, finishing with 21 points to go with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Nia Grymes was the only other Owl to finish in double digits, scoring 15 points in 24 minutes off the bench.
Tuesday's victory improved the Owls record to 17-4 on the year ahead of their regular season finale against Allegany College of Maryland on Thursday, February 20th at 5 PM in Novak Field House.
