The Lady Owls basketball team was back in Novak Field House on Tuesday evening for their third game in four days to take on Anne Arundel Community College in a Region 20 opener. The Owls used a fast approach to jump ahead early and roll to an 89-55 victory and improve to 4-0 on the season.
Tuesday's contest was close, 20-15 after the first quarter before Prince George's held the Riverhawks in check during the second period, outscoring Anne Arundel 25-8 to head into halftime with a 45-23 lead. Nia Grymes was hot at the break, scoring 19 points through the first two quarters off the bench. Also coming off the bench was sophomore Tamia Washington who scored all 14 of her first half points in the second quarter.
The Owls continued to distance themselves after the break with a 24-10 third quarter. Prince George's went up by as many as 43 points in the final frame before Anne Arundel managed to soften the blow to 34 points by the final whistle. Grymes and Washington finished as the game's leading scorers with 31 and 24, respectively. Freshman Aaliyah Membrino recorded her first collegiate double-double in the win with 14 points, 12 rebounds before fouling out in the 4th period.
