Prince George’s Tops Allegany, Finishes Season on Four-Game Win Streak Entering Region Tournament

The Prince George's Community College women's basketball team closed out their 2024-25 regular season on Thursday, February 20th, hosting Allegany College of Maryland in an afternoon matchup in Novak Field House. The Owls stayed hot as they took care of business, 74-46 to finish the year 18-4 heading into postseason play beginning in March.

Prince George's dominated from the start as they jumped out to a 43-22 lead by halftime and held the Trojans to fewer than ten points scored in both the second and third quarters to enter the final frame up big, 56-30 before closing things out in the fourth. All nine Lady Owls that checked into the contest scored by the final horn, led by freshman Kryslynn Stewart who finished with 21 points, 7 steals, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists on a busy day. Kristin Smith picked up a double-double in the win with 11 points and 10 rebounds while both Jai'Den Anderson and Tamia Washington both added 13 points each to round out the top scorers.

The Owls now await the finish of the remaining Region 20 Division II games to determine final postseason seeding and their quarterfinal opponent to be played on Wednesday, March 5th at Howard Community College in Columbia, Maryland. The three-day tournament features the top eight qualifiers in Region 20 and concludes with the Championship on Saturday, March 8th. The Region Champion also captures the Mid-Atlantic District Title and earns an automatic bid to the National Tournament held in Joplin, Missouri from March 17th-22nd.
