Men’s Soccer Earns Shutout Victory Over Hagerstown

The Prince George's Community College men's soccer team earned a victory on Tuesday, September 19th against visiting Hagerstown Community College, downing the Hawks 6-0 in their first shutout of the season.

Two first half goals set the tone early on for the Owls. Muhammad Sallah recorded his first goal of the season with the game's first score in the 17th minute which was assisted by Gabriel Tello Perea. Chukuwma Maduwuba later added the second goal for Prince George's in the 34th from a Oluwafolayemi Ojo assist. Ojo wound up having his best career performance as an Owl, finishing with 5 points on the day.

After halftime, Francis Ogbankwa added an unassisted goal in the 52nd minute to make it 3-0 for Prince George's. Five minutes later Ojo scored his first goal of the year before picking up his second only three minutes after that. Perea and Abdul Bandaogo provided the assists on each goal, respectively, to make it a 5-0 lead for the home team. Prince George's finished the day with a sixth goal by Maduwuba in the 78th minute to cap off a dominant 6-0 win and improve to 2-3-1 on the year.

The Owls defense held Hagerstown in check the entire game, allowing only one shot over 90 minutes. Goalkeeper Bilal Odeh was replaced by teammate Julio Morales in the 64th minute who earned his first action in goal this season. The shutout was the first for Prince George's since October 20th of last season when the Owls defeated Chesapeake College, 9-0.

Coach Mansaray and his team now head into a difficult matchup with a bit of momentum when they take on the #6 (D2) ranked CCBC Essex Knights on Saturday, September 23rd.  Kickoff is scheduled for 11 AM.
