Beale Help Ignites Pressure Cooker To Help Men's Basketball Cook CCBC Dundalk, 72-65

LARGO, Md. – Freshman Shiloh Beale (Waldorf, Md./St. Charles) scored 14 of his team-high 18 points in a decisive 33-11 run to close the game to help Prince George's Community College rally from a 20-point deficit and earn a 72-65 victory against CCBC Dundalk in Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) men's basketball action on Friday.

The Owls (15-10, 6-7 MD JUCO) trailed 48-28 with 16:32 left and still were down to the Lions by 15 with 12:04 on the clock. The Largo team started to pressure the Lions full court and the Owls pounced with a 33-11 run in the final 12 minutes of the tilt to earn the victory and keep in MD JUCO Tournament hopes alive. Beale took over final 3:07 of the game by scoring 10 of Prince George's final 12 points in the waning minutes including back-to-back layups to give the Owls the lead for the first time and one they would not relinquish. The freshman broke through the Lions to intercept a pass on the Prince George's offensive end and converted a layup with 2:24 remaining to cut the margin to 65-64 and then scored in the lane off a CCBC Dundalk turnover to give the host the lead for good at 1:23.

Beale shot 5 of 6 from the floor and a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe to notch 18 points or more for the third time in the last four games and has posted double figures in four-straight games and seven times this season.

Gus Stone (Baltimore, Md./North County) added 16 points while Mykal Johnson (Seat Pleasant, Md./Charles H. Flowers) chipped in 10 points in the winning effort. Stone posted his 35th career double-figure performance and 20th of the season while Johnson has 51st double-digit point games in 56 career games including 24 times in 2017-18.

CCBC Dundalk seemed to quash the Prince George's hopes to make the MD JUCO Tournament hosted by Prince George's on Feb. 15-18. The Lions jumped out to a 40-24 lead at halftime and extended the margin to 48-28 three minutes and 28 seconds into the final stanza.

The Owls kept making dents into the deficit but could not cut it to single digits until midway through the second period. Prince George's closed the final 10 minutes of the game on a 29-11 run sparked by Beale's 14 points in this stretch to provide the Novak Field another exciting come-from-behind victory to earn its second-straight victory.

Kennith Ford (Forrestville, Md./National Collegiate Prep) tallied nine points and nine rebounds in the winning effort.

Prince George's closes out the regular season at home against Harford Community College on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
