Stone-Johnson Twosome Stuff The Stat Sheet In 82-69 Victory Against Westmoreland County

YOUNGWOOD, Pa. – Gus Stone (Baltimore, Md./North County) and Mykal Johnson (Seat Pleasant, Md./Charles H. Flowers) combined for 39 points, 19 rebounds and 15 assists to propel Prince George's Community College past Westmoreland County Community College 82-69 in National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Region XX men's basketball action on Saturday.

Stone posted 21 points, nine rebounds and eight assists to narrowly miss his first double-double or triple-double. The sophomore shot 8-for-10 from the floor, 4-for-5 from behind the arc and 1 of 1 from the free throw line. He has scored double figures in each game this season, including tallying a 20-point performance in six of the eight games this season and a total of 13 for his career. The nine rebounds and eight assists were career highs in those categories.

Johnson registered 18 points and 10 rebounds to record his first career double-double while also notching seven assists and four steals on the afternoon. Johnson shot 7-for-9 from the floor and 4 of 4 from 3-point land. The sophomore, who has posted double figures in points in 34 of 38 career games, has scored at least 10 points in every game this season including four games with 18 points or more. Johnson recorded career highs in both rebounds and assists on the afternoon and became the second player on the team to record double figures in rebounds and a double-double.

Kennith Ford also reached double figures for the Owls (5-3) with 13 points while James Hagins (Roanoke, Va./William Fleming) hauled in eight rebounds and Tavon Ngangum (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) dished out six assists in the winning effort.

The Largo team jumped out to an 11-point lead going into the locker room at 32-21 and then outscored the Wolfpack 50-48 in the final frame to earn the 82-69 victory.

Prince George's Community College returns to action after the Thanksgiving holiday against Cecil on Nov. 29. Tipoff is 7 p.m.
