Pair of Late Goals Lifts the Owls Over Howard

Playing in their first game in over a week due to weather, and in search of their first win in nearly a month, the Prince George's Community College Owls defeated Howard Community College on the road with a 2-0 shutout performance on Thursday, October 3rd. The win improved the Owls 5-2-3 on the season while Howard dropped to 7-3.

Prince George's appeared to control the tempo throughout the game although Howard created a few opportunities themselves, forcing Owls goalkeeper Jair Caceres to make four saves in the first half. Prince George's had 11 shots through the first 45 minutes, 7 of which were on frame and Howard's keeper kept out to keep the game scoreless at the break.

The Owls kept up with their attack after halftime and finally found the back of the net in the 70th minute off a successful Perez Hengoue free kick from well outside the 18-yard box. Ten minutes later freshman Shawn Adjekum Opong scored his first career goal on a fast break in transition with the assist from Zico Tesheira and Shane Lopez Haddia. Prince George's kept Howard off the board as time ticked away, earning their second shutout victory of the year.

The Owls now have an extended break without any game next week as the schedule currently stands. Prince George's next matchup comes on the road at Division I Hagerstown on Tuesday, October 15th.
