Barber, Wall And Men's 4x400 Relay Qualify For NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track And Field Championships Final

UTICA, N.Y. – Destiny Barber (Suitland, Md./Potomac), Milan Wall (Huntsville, Ala./Sparkman) and the men's 4x400-meter relay team all qualified for the finals at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Outfield Track And Field Championships on Friday.

Wall finished first in the second heat and recorded the best qualifying time in the 400-meter dash to advance to the final on Saturday. Wall, who had the top seeding time coming into the championships, ran a time of 51.22 in the preliminaries. The finals start at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday.

Barber finished eighth overall in the 400-meter dash to qualify for Saturday's final. The freshman placed third in the second heat to post a 1:04.36 qualifying time. The finals start at 4:10 p.m. on Saturday. Barber also ran in the 200-meter dash and placed fifth in the second heat and 10th overall with a time of 27.75, missing out on qualifying for the final by 0.52 seconds. 

The Owls men's 4x400-meter relay team finished second in the first heat and fourth overall to advance to the finals on Saturday. Kobe Cole (Plano, Texas/Plano) opened the relay and was followed by DeVont'e McCree (Accokeek, Md./Gwynn Park), JC Campfield (Washington, D.C./Eleanor Roosevelt) and Wall to post a preliminary time of 3:31.19 and will look medal in the event on Saturday at 4:05 p.m.

Cole, McCree and Eddy Brown (Upper Marlboro, Md./Homeschooled) also ran in the preliminaries in individual events, but did not post a qualifying time for Saturday's final.

McCree placed seventh in the first heat and 13th overall in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.69 while Cole finished right behind McCree in the 400-meter dash in eighth in the first heat and 14th overall with a time of 54.90.

Brown placed sixth in the first heat and 19th overall in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:12.35.
