Prince George's Track And Field Heads To Prestigious Penn Relays On Friday

LARGO, Md. – The Prince George's Community College men's track and field will head to the prestigious Penn Relays with DeVont'e McCree (Accokeek, Md./Gwynn Park), JC Campfield (Washington, D.C./Eleanor Roosevelt), Jose Vasquez (Riverdale, Md./Parkdale) and Milan Wall (Huntsville, Ala./Sparkman) traveling to Philadelphia on Friday in hopes of qualifying for a final on Saturday.

The quartet will start its run at the Penn Relays in the 4x100-meter relay on Friday at 12:30 p.m. The Top-27 times in the qualifying round will advance to the finals on Saturday. Teams that finish 19-27 will race in the Eastern Final at 1:30 p.m. while teams that place 10-18 will compete in College Final at 1:32 p.m. and the Top-9 teams square off in the Championship Final at 1:35 p.m.

An hour later, the Owls are slated to race in the 4x200-meter relay heats at 1:35 p.m. on Friday. The Top-18 times in these heats will advance to the finals on Saturday with the squads that finish 10-18 running in the Eastern Final at 2:40 p.m. and the Top-9 going off in the Championship Final at 2:45 p.m.

The final event for Prince George's on Friday is the 4x400-meter relay at 4:15 p.m. Just like the 4x100-meter relay, the Top-27 times in the heats will participate in finals on Saturday. Teams that finish 19-27 will race in the Eastern Final at 5:45 p.m. while teams that place 10-18 will compete in College Final at 5:30 p.m. and the Top-9 teams square off in the Championship Final at 5:55 p.m.

Now in its 124th year, the Penn Relays is the oldest and largest track and field competition in the United States. The annual event is hosted by the University of Pennsylvania at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa. Franklin Field was opened the same year as the inaugural Penn Relays in 1895.
