Prince George's Track And Field Set To Run In The Virginia State University Trojan Invitational on Saturday

opening jog… The Prince George's track and field will compete in an event for the second-straight weekend when the Owls travel to the Virginia State University Trojan Invitational on Saturday. The squad will join Barton College, Bowie State University, Virginia Union University, Shaw University, St. Augustine's University, Norfolk State University, Methodist College and host Virginia State.

last time out… For the second-straight meet, freshman Milan Wall paced the Prince George's Community College track and field team after finishing third in the 400-meter dash at the Towson Invitational on April 14.  Wall placed third in the 400-meter dash on Saturday with a time of 48.88. His time was 0.72 seconds behind the winner from an NCAA Division I team while posting a personal-best time by 0.33 seconds. Wall also ran the third leg of the 4x400-meter relay that finished in 15th place (3:32.72). Eddy Brown opened the relay before DeVont'e McCree ran the second leg and JC Campfield closed out the race. McCree (29th place, 53.43), Brown (30th place, 53.72) and Jose Vasquez (Riverdale, Md./Parkdale) (38th place, 58.51) also participated in the 400-meter dash while Kobe Cole (Plano, Texas/Plano) finished 19th in the 400-meter hurdles (1:04.22). On the women's side, Destiny Barber placed 41st in the 400-meter dash (1:04.13). 

next run… Prince George's heads to the prestigious Penn Relays at Franklin Field in Philadelphia on April 27-28.

wall honored again… Milan Wall (has run in two collegiate events in his career and both times the freshman has taken home the United States Track And Field And Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Men's Athlete of the Week honors. Wall earned the honor for the second time on April 17 for his performance at the Towson Invitational. Wall placed third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.88 at Johnny Unitas Stadium on the campus of Towson University on Saturday. His time was 0.72 seconds behind the winner from an NCAA Division I team while posting a personal-best time by 0.33 seconds. The freshman now owns the top time in the event in NJCAA Division III this season.

wall honors… Milan Wall was named the United States Track And Field And Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Men's Athlete of the Week on April 3. Wall was solid in his collegiate debut at the Danny Curran Invitational on March 31 where he won the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.21. The freshman's time is the first sub-50.00 time in the 400-meter dash this year at the NJCAA Division III level. Wall also competed in the 4×400-meter relay, where his team ran a 3:28.66 – good for second on the NJCAA Division III Descending Order List. Wall is the first National Athlete of the Week from Prince George's since Joel Thomas in 2016.

 Head coach Richard Johnson has compiled a roster of 10 athletes with Eddy Brown the only returner on the roster. Johnson added Destiny BarberMikela Robinson and Samaria Ward on the women's side and joining Brown are freshmen JC CampfieldKobe ColeMuhammad LawalDeVont'e McCreeJose Vasquez and Milan Wall.

about the coach… Head coach Richard Johnson begins his 10th season as head coach of the track and field program. He has led the women's track and field program to NJCAA National Runners-Up in 2016 and Region XX Runners Up in 2009 while the 2010 men's track and field team won the Region XX title.
