Men’s Soccer Set For Postseason Play

The Prince George's Community College men's soccer program heads to Anne Arundel Community College on Thursday, October 27th to battle Oxford College of Emory University at 6 pm in the second semifinal matchup of the Mid-Atlantic/Region 20 Division 3 Tournament. Prince George's enters the tournament as the number two seed while Oxford Emory enters as the third seed as the representative from Region 17. Number five nationally ranked Anne Arundel is the tournament top seed and will take on fourth seeded Allegany College of Maryland in the first semifinal contest at 4 pm. The winners of each semifinal will play one another on Saturday at 1 pm with a trip to the National Championship on the line.

The Owls (6-7) earned the number two seed after splitting their Region 20 divisional games with a 2-0 loss on the road to Anne Arundel and a 4-1 win over Allegany. Anne Arundel swept in divisional games while Allegany dropped both of their games to earn the one and four seed, respectively.

Prince George's is returning to the postseason for the first time in three years due to the pandemic and features a rematch of their 2019 season finale, a matchup against Oxford Emory in the playoffs where the Eagles escaped with a 2-0 upset win. The Owls will aim to reverse the outcome this time around coming off a 9-0 dominant showing over Chesapeake College the last time the team took the pitch.

The Owls will be looking for their first postseason victory since 2016 when Prince George's won the Region and advanced to the National Championship in Herkimer, New York. The Owls Region championship earned the program its sixth overall crown and fourth since division 3 was formed.

Tickets for the tournament are available at the gate and cost $5 for adults. Students with valid ID and kids 12 and under are free. A cash-only concession stand will be open both days of the tournament. All games will also be livestreamed on Anne Arundel's YouTube page.
