Owls Fall To #8 Anne Arundel On The Road

The Prince George's Community College Men's soccer team traveled to Arnold, MD on Tuesday to face Anne Arundel in a Region 20 Division 3 matchup. The Owls conceded two goals to the Riverhawks in the first half and were held scoreless across 90 minutes against the #8 ranked NJCAA Division 3 squad.

The Riverhawks jumped out to a hot start as they collected an Owls turnover in their own defensive end and were able to capitalize with their first goal in the 6th minute. The Owls Brian Gomez-Martinez had a good look minutes later but sent a deep shot wide left of the Riverhawks goal. Prince George's was unable to string together another offensive threat for the remainder of the half as Anne Arundel grew their lead to 2 with another goal in the 36th minute.

The Owls were able to create four more shots in the second half but couldn't manage to put the first three on frame before Francis Ogbankwa forced the Riverhawks keeper to make his lone save of the match in the 88th minute. Prince George's remained determined down the stretch as they created the only two corner kick opportunities of the game but were unable to capitalize on either to finish out the game. Despite the loss Prince George's was able to hold Anne Arundel in check for the second half as freshman Bilal Odeh stepped in at goalkeeper for the Owls, recording four saves as he helped blank the Riverhawks over the final 45 minutes.

The 2-0 loss drops the Owls record to 3-4 on the year ahead of their next matchup at CCBC Essex on Thursday, September 29th which comes before their final Region 20 divisional game next Tuesday, October 4th against Allegany College of Maryland.
