Owls continue winning streak

Owls continue winning streak

The Owls soccer team guaranteed themselves a home game in the first round of the region playoffs by defeating Potomac State College by a score of 1-0. Both teams came into the game fighting for one of the top four seeds based on their current records and standings.

Overall, it was a dominant performance by the Owls men who are now riding a 3 game winning streak. They out performed Potomac State in every statistical category including shots on goal and corner kicks taken. Alec Sproule, Potomac State's goalkeeper had a good performance and was able to make several saves including some from point blank range.

However, one goal was enough for the Owls to earn the victory. Mecardo Knight, the team's leading goal scorer, was able to lock on to a Dan Rodas pass and after dribbling pass two defenders placed a shot inside the far corner of the goal. Ultimately, his goal proved to be the game winner has Potomac State was unable to breakdown the Owls defense. Richard Lewis III was credited with the win and made two saves for the game. His play along with a strong defensive unit has allowed only one goal in the last three games.

The Owls will play their final game of the season on Saturday, October 25, at home against Allegany College of Maryland. Kickoff is set for 12:00 PM.
