Terrell Harris Named Conference Coach of the Year

Following his first year as the leader of the Prince George's Community College men's basketball program, head coach Terrell Harris was announced as the Maryland JUCO Conference Coach of the Year as well as the Bob Kirk Men's Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year.

Harris earned the conference coach of the year award for winning the regular season conference title, finishing with a 12-2 mark in Maryland JUCO play. Already an impressive feat for a first-year head coach in itself, Harris also has the distinction of leading the first ever Division III program, which began competition in 1986, to the conference title. As one of the only two Division III programs in the conference, Prince George's is tasked with playing up to DI and DII teams for the majority of their season.

The Bob Kirk award is voted on by the head coaches in the conference and is named after the legendary late basketball coach and athletic director who spent 40 years at Allegany (33 as head basketball coach) where he guided the Trojans to a 927-158 record. He is also an NJCAA Hall of Fame member.

Harris and his Owls finished the year with a 25-5 overall record while guiding his team to the programs first appearance in a National Championship since the 2008 season. The Owls 25 wins tied the highest season win total since 2005-06 when Prince George's was a DII program.
