Owls Topple Anne Arundel 87-64 for 5th Straight Victory

Three days after earning their first Region 20 divisional win of the season against Allegheny County (PA), the Owls took to the road to challenge Anne Arundel where they rolled to an 87-64 victory over the Riverhawks. The win brings the Owls regional division record to 2-1 and their overall record to 10-2.

Prince George's led for all but 18 seconds once the scoring began during their matchup against Anne Arundel, with the only time not being in control coming from a three pointer by the Riverhawks to knot the score at 3. The Owls shot a highly efficient 49% (20-41) from the floor during the first period to head into halftime with a 49-32 lead. Freshman Jasir Tremble led the Owls in scoring at the break with 14 points off the bench while Elijah Crawford and Anthony Perry each had 7.

Prince George's extended their lead in the second half, outscoring the Riverhawks 39-32 to keep Anne Arundel out of reach of threatening for control of the game. Anne Arundel was able to come within single digits (58-51) at one point with over ten minutes left in the half but Prince George's opened up the floor and find their way to the basket to close out the contest in front.

Prince George's struggled from distance during their win, connecting on just 18% (5-28) of their attempts from deep but made up for it with their best performance of the year as a team from the free throw line, missing on just one chance to finish the evening 96% (22-23) from the stripe. The Owls win against Anne Arundel was also their fifth consecutive victory in which they outscored their opponent by at least 10 points.

Tremble finished as the top scorer for Prince George's with 18 points in just his second appearance on the season. Crawford finished with a 13-point, 10-rebound double-double while Deonte Cooke just missed out on a double-double of his own with a 12-point, 9-rebound performance. Perry ended with 14 points and Anthony Simmons added 10 for the Owls  to round out the double-digit scorers.

Next up for the 10-2 Owls is a road game at Frederick Community College on Wednesday, January 11th with a 7 PM start.
