Owls Return to Largo For A Full Weekend Against Frederick, Chesapeake

The Prince George's Community College baseball team is back at home this weekend for a busy couple of days, hosting a pair of doubleheaders for a total of four games in two days. The Owls (3-9, 3-9 MD JUCO) will welcome the Frederick Cougars on Saturday, April 24th and will host Chesapeake College on Sunday, April 25th. Game one is scheduled to begin at noon on both days.

The Owls are fresh off a much-needed win which came in game two against CCBC Essex on Tuesday, April 20th. After dropping game one 4-2, Prince George's came back to defeat the Knights 8-7 in the second game. The victory over Essex marked the Owls first win in two weeks as they have struggled recently, compiling eight straight losses until they topped the Knights. Sophomore Jacob Willis who typically starts at shortstop for the Owls, was given the start at pitcher for game two. Willis went on to throw the entire game, allowing only three earned runs while throwing 53 strikes to earn his first collegiate victory on the mound.

Both Frederick (11-6, 11-6 MD JUCO) and Chesapeake (17-5, 13-2 MD JUCO) enter the weekend ahead of the Owls in conference rankings. Frederick last played on Thursday, April 22nd when they hosted Allegany for a 9-inning bout. The Cougars went on to win 17-8 but will travel to Largo to take on a well-rested Owls team on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Skipjacks will host Allegany for their own doubleheader on Saturday, setting up a showdown between two teams gearing up for a quick turnaround. The Owls will look to use their home-field advantage over the weekend to make a push towards reaching the .500 mark on the season.
