LARGO, Md. – In conjunction with the Prince George's Community College Athletics 50th Anniversary, A Celebration of the Past, Present And Future, the athletics department hosted the Amazing Race: Prince George's on Wednesday.

Five teams participated in the Prince George's version of the Emmy-award winning television show. Instead of racing around the country, teams of two raced around the college campus. Stops included the registration office, the business office, the bookstore, the Robert E. Bickford Natatorium and the athletic trainer's office.

The race, which started and concluded in front of Novak Field House, also included road blocks and detours at PGCC TV, the track, the gym and study hall. At PGCC TV, a team member had to do a quick read on camera like ones that are produced for the stations' show SportsNest. A detour awaited the teams at the track with the option to attempt to score against Owls All-Region goalkeeper Jonathan Claros or save a shot off the foot of All-Region forward Edwin Claros. The cheerleaders were the road block in the gym and teams had to learn the famous Owls "Do It, Do It, Do It" cheer. The last stop before the finish line in which teams have to complete a word search that revealed the phrase "Amazing Race: Prince George's Onto The Finish Line! Go!" to receive the final clue.

Mykal Johnson and James Hagins were the winners of the race.

Special thanks to everyone that participated and everyone that helped to make this race possible.

The year-long celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Prince George's athletics is hitting the home stretch. The next event is on Saturday, April 21 at the Baseball Field when the Owls take on Chesapeake in a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. The celebration culminates with the Prince George's Annual Intercollegiate Awards Banquet and the Inaugural Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. More details will be coming out shortly on this event.
